Molecular electronics is one of the most active areas in nanophysics now. Miniaturization of electronic devices is necessary for the development of smaller size computers. A single molecule is such a device. A molecular wire is not a simple wire know form general physics course. It is essentially quantum object that requires the knowledge of modern quantum mechanics of molecules, solid state, and surfaces. The main research topic in Yuri's group is to find novel materials that could be potentially useful for nanotechnology. The research is theoretical that includes much calculations by using original programs and commercial software packages.
