3) Prepare to talk about how your classes are going this semester.
Questions to consider with your advisor
Are you finding study groups and peers within your year of majors?
Can you identify specific areas of challenge on which you would appreciate help or advice?
How is the rest of life going, and are there things that are having an impact on your academic work?
Would you consider working with either an academic support office to help with class work and study skills?
Would assistance from a professional counselor, such as from the
University Counseling Center, be helpful to you at this time in your life?
Would you be interested in an opportunty to spend a semester or year in another country as part of the
Study Abroad Program?
Could the UW office of
Student Success Services provide study skills, career assistance, and planning that would be helpful to you?
Are you feeling sufficiently interested and challenged by your courses, or is there another major that is better for you?
Would you like to get involved in research with a UW faculty member? Often, faculty even have money to pay students as research assistants, but
it is up to you to go around and knock on doors and ask.
How can your department and advisor serve you better in your degree program?
