This directory contains the optical rotation curves obtained for my thesis work. The data were taken at the Palomar 5m and the CTIO 4m telescopes. This was a true team effort, with the following folks playing important roles: R. Giovanelli, M.P. Haynes, L. Campusano, and E. Hardy. J. Uson collaborated on follow-up studies of higher-z clusters. The rotation curves are mostly from the H-alpha transition; the files using H-alpha are in the format *.HA. Supplemental files from [N II] transitions are formatted *.N2A and *.N2B. I sometimes used the [N II] data to bridge gaps in the H-alpha data. The gzipped tar file contains all the rotation curve files. --------------------------------------------------------------------- FORMAT: ------- Lines 3 through Npts provide -radius in arcseconds -cz in km/s -uncertainty in cz in kms/ The first line in each file gives the AGC name of the galaxy. The important information in the second line are the first few entries. For example, the first line for A000847.HA, "Dale Ph.D. thesis HA AS 67" implies: -the data come from my thesis work -the data are from the H-alpha transition -the radial data are given in units of arcseconds -there are 67 data points in the file The Palomar and CTIO data are radially spaced by 0.468 and 0.50 arcseconds, respectively. These data are not folded, and typically a radius of 0" implies the optical continuum center-of-light location. Note that substantial care went into the technique of folding the "arms" of the rotation curve onto each other.
