Suppose a mechanical engineer, electrical engineer, and a theoretical physicist (Biff, Sasha, & Herbert) are prairie dog enthusiasts. Unfortunately, there is a a huge swarm of High Plains Killer Bees heading their way.

Now, these are no ordinary bees: they fly in a straight line just above the ground and devour anything in their path. But because of their massive jaws, they have a hard time turning; evolution has allowed them to only efficiently fly straight, and eat.

Herbert suggests that they construct a mini black hole and throw it at the swarm, or at least to cowardly dive into a prairie dog hole at the last second. Scoffing, Biff and Sasha start to gather sticks and sagebrush to construct a rather coarse mesh.

Unfortunately, the mesh holes would only block the very largest of the bees. So they discuss how to best orient the mesh. They agree that slanting the mesh with respect to the bee vector will effectively make the mesh holes smaller.
