Observing Notes - 06/16/2017 Observatory: WIRO Observers : David PeQueen, Aylin McGough, Bethany Garver Notes: - Took sky flats in the four relevant filters for tonight's observations: g' r' z' and i' - Struggled to get a good read on exposure times vs. counts for majority of the time we were able to observe. Front approaching and dark upper atmospheric clouds made it difficult to identify which images were cloud-affected and which ones were not. Original exposure times listed on the webpage ended up being pretty accurate, but only with defocusing to -2.5 mm. Defocusing further than this would have necessitated significantly longer exposures, which we did not feel was appropriate given we were taking observations in four filters. When clouds did not affect our images, we were getting 1 x 10 ^ 8 ADUs as desired. - At 12:25 MT, as our target progressed higher in the sky and started getting more counts in less time, we needed to defocus again, so we went to -2.75 mm. - Rain approaching at 12:40 MT. Cloud cover over the entire state and beyond (into neighboring states to the west and north), moving in a southeasterly direction. With no chance of reopening during the remainder of the night and achieving any futher data, we will be coming down early. Leaving approximately 1:15. - Took 40 biases.
