Observing Notes - 07/08/2017 Observatory: WIRO Observers : David PeQueen, Jackson Cole, Aylin McGough Notes: - Took evening sky flats in the four filters for science tonight, z' i' r' and g'. - Took 40 biases. - Original target very close to nearly full moon. Using appropriate exposure times to get sufficient ADU, background completely saturated. - After consulting the online transit finder, we determined new target of TrES-3 b. Obtained pre-transit, in-transit, and post-transit data in g' r' i' and z' filters. Only drawback to target was an apparent magnitude of 12.40, but the expected tranist depth was ~29 mmag. Background counts near this target were only ~10000, as opposed to completely saturated for the original target (HAT-P-23 b). The photometry files told us we were getting sufficient ADU. - Due to high day time temperatures, CCD found at -90 deg C from school at about 7:45 PM MT. It cooled as the night continued, reaching the desired -110 deg C around 3:00 AM MT.
