I am also starting a project with Chip Kobulnicky on high-latitude intermediate-mass star forming regions. Using an IRAS color criteria developed by Charles Kerton at Iowa State, we are using mid-infrared photometry on a small sample of these objects to confirm that they are indeed intermediate-mass star forming regions, explore their stellar contents, and compare with similar objects found in the galactic plane.
Above is a view of M16 taken from WIRO by Kobulnicky, Runnoe, and Dornfeld. It is a composite of 1x60s B, 3x5s V, and 3x5s R exposures. It is also my first attempt and making a pretty astronomy picture.
