Raw Image of Long-Slit Spectrum

This image was obtained on May 19, 2002 with the Afosc camera at the Mt. Ekar Observatory in Asiago (Padova, Italy). Exposure time=360 sec UT time=01:21:54 The bright line running vertically through the center was formed when the light from DQ Her dispersed, in perpendicular fashion, from the slit. The fainter lines running horizontally across the photograph are sky lines. The portion of the line toward the top that looks brighter and wider (near the ring imperfection) is the H-alpha region of the spectrum.
