The vast starry sky fills students with a sense of wonder and compels them to contemplate their place within the Universe. It's also cross-disciplinary — elements of physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology, and more, are involved in the broad field of astronomy. What better way to engage a classroom than to draw connections with this awe-inspring science?
With support from the National Science Foundation (AST Grant #1211112), we have put together a three-day workshop for teachers from around Wyoming (with a few visitors from New Hampshire). Our goal is to inspire teachers to effectively bring astronomy into their classrooms to teach a range of topics. The workshop is taking place June 16, 17, and 18, at the University of Wyoming in beautiful Laramie, Wyoming.
