Basic Start-Up Procedures
These instructions are to followed after the dewar has been pumped and you are ready to observe.
They should only be used by persons already familiar with the procedure. Please refer to the
full manual for more detailed instructions.
1. Verify that everything is powered off.
2. Connect all cables if not done already.
3. Start TempSensMonitor.vi
4. If temperature ~ 4K, turn the heater on to warm the detector to ~ 15K. The voltage should be set
to 2.7V but may need to be adjusted.
5. Once at operating temperature, turn on the power supply and run BAM_Startup.vi.
6. Make sure that the red light on the timing generator board connected to the system
is blinking. Wait about 20 minutes for the preamp to stabilize.
7. Acquire an image with the window blocked (by Al plate for example) and verify that the detector readout
is correct.
8. You are ready to point the telescope and observe.
