Research Interests
Dr. Dahnovsky is Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Chemistry. Dr. Dahnovsky received Ph.D. in Physics and Chemical Physics from the Institute of Chemical Physics at the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow in 1983.
He worked as a research associate at the University of California at
Santa Barbara, Carnegie Mellon University, University of Pittsburgh,
and Northwestern University.
Research interests are molecular electronic devices, in
paricular molecular wires, renewable sources of energy (photochemical
cells), nonlinear optical properties of quantum heterostructures,
dissipation of energy in large molecules,
femtosecond processes, photon-assisted tunneling, and other aspects of
Theoretical Physics, Chemistry, and Biophysics.
Prof. Dahnovsky is currently a recipient of a NSF Grant in the area
of molecular wires. In this project current-voltage charateristics will
be calculated by using an electron propagator method along with a
Keldysh function approach.
