Bringing Science to Everyone!

I absolutely love opportunities to share my passion for science with everyone! To do this, I have participated in many outreach programs and groups. I am also very willing to visit any classes, libraries, or organizations that might want to hear about astronomy research!

Outreach Programs

JavaScript Simulations for Learning

I am in the process of learning JavaScript to expand my virtual outreach skills. A few of the simulations I have made so far are available below.

Planetary Atmosphere Simulator

Students use a simulated absorption spectrum to determine what elements are present in the atmospheres of Earth, Venus, and Mars.

Crab Nebula Age

Students use a time-series of images of the Crab Nebula to determine how fast it is expanding and when it must have exploded. They then use the methods of archeoastronomy to relate that time to historical records of the sky

Supporting Graduate Students at University of Wyoming

As a small act of service to the University of Wyoming graduate students, I collected and shared the results of an anonymous survey completed between December 2019 and January 2020. The goal of this survey was to better understand the needs and challenges of graduate students so we could work to improve graduate education at University of Wyoming. The major results of this survey can be viewed in a pdf I compiled here: Survey Results
